Williams Engineering Canada’s engineers are committed to designing sustainable, flexible, and adaptable mechanical systems that maximize operating savings with minimal impact to the environment. We work with building users, operators, and owners to design high-quality calibre mechanical systems that are easy to control and maintain.

Our environmental commitment is important to existing buildings that require upgrades to meet or exceed energy standards. Some of our specialized services include code analysis, direct digital control systems, heat recovery and energy conservation and building energy audits and energy simulation, LEED® consulting, HVAC design, medical gas systems, refrigeration systems, and sprinkler and fire protection systems and building systems commissioning.

AAFC Cereal Research Centre Laboratory

Market: Government

On behalf of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) in the spring of 2008, Williams conducted a conceptual options heating study for the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) Cereal Research Centre’s Science Laboratory building, located on the University of Manitoba campus in Winnipeg.

Aspen Heights Elementary School located in Red Deer, Alberta was originally constructed in 1949. The school's current population stands at approximately 225 students. Major renovations to the school and a four classroom addition began in June of 2009.

Con Mine Site

Williams was part of the team of experts hired by the City of Yellowknife to conduct a feasibility study for the use of warm groundwater for building heating. The groundwater is in the process of filling up the soon to be decommissioned Con Mine, one of the gold mines that put Yellowknife on the map.

County of Paintearth Municipal Office Building & Industrial Subdivision

As part of Williams Engineering Canada Inc.'s existing relationship with the communities of the Paintearth region, our firm was asked to provide conceptual planning, design, and engineering services for the new County of Paintearth municipal office and planned light industrial/highway commercial sub-division. Williams Engineering produced the conceptual plan for the phased development of the site which at build-out will be home to the municipal office, a truck stop serving the high-load Highway 36 corridor, and 15 Light Industrial/Highway Commercial lots.

Kugluktuk Water Systems Upgrade

The Hamlet of Kugluktuk draws its water from the Coppermine River about 2.5 km upstream from the Coronation Gulf. Numerous issues have been reported with the water system over the years including chronic excessive turbidity, seasonal salt water intrusion, sand and silt build-up around the intake pipe, the need for a new intake pump house (instability of the riverbank lead to damage of the intake pump house and pipe), and sufficient water storage. Many of these issues are interrelated (i.e., intake sedimentation affecting water quality).
