» Project Details

Williams Engineering Canada Inc. undertook detailed design and construction management for the realignment of Bunt Lake Trail and Poplar Ridge Road. The north-south legs of the Burnt Lake Trail were off-set by 5 m (east to west). This was becoming a serious concern due to increased traffic associated with a rise in industrial and commercial usage in the area. Williams Engineering redesigned the intersection to accommodate heavy truck traffic and improve the flow of vehicles through the Burnt Lake Trail Industrial Park.

Detailed design was scoped for full build-out; however, Williams Engineering has been asked to construct only a limited portion of this due to cost restraints. A scaled back version of the full design was developed to produce the required cost savings to enable construction to commence. In producing this scaled back version, we provided a design that was both significantly cheaper to allow construction to start, as well as ensuring this scaled back version retained the pedestrian safety features of the full design. It was also imperative that the scaled back design would easily accommodate full build-out when required.
