Excitement is in the air today with the launch of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Two members of the Williams Engineering family were fortunate to be part of the early Olympic celebrations. One of those members is Jim Karst, working in our Manitoba regional office, who had the opportunity to watch his daughter Brittany run with the Olympic torch in Moosejaw Saskatchewan. Brittany was part of a 19 person leg of the torch run. She applied online in the summer of 2009 and was extremely fortunate to be chosen. Jim Karst says, "Brittany was bubbling with excitement the whole time up to the event and after as well. She is giving a show and tell presentation about her run at our elementary school. I know she is eager to tell her story." This is the longest Olympic torch run in history. It is an incredible honour for Canada to be hosting these games.
Andrew Dixon, out of our Southern Alberta regional office, has been accepted as a volunteer for the Olympic course crew in Whistler, British Columbia. Regarding the Olympics Andrew says, "I see this as a once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved in an event of such great scale that will have such a large impact on British Columbia. I am really looking forward to the experience and the excitement of the event".
Williams Engineering is excited for its employees' and their families and looks forward to an exhilarating Olympic season.
